Whitetail Deer
Trophy whitetail deer in this region normally score in the 140-150 class Boone and Crockett with a few in the 160 class. Larger deer are seen every year but require diligence and the patience to only shoot a deer the hunter has decided would be a trophy.
Hunting will be from vehicles using spot and stalk methods along with hunting from blinds and over feeders. Hunting methods will be at the hunters’ discretion. Terrain will vary from relatively flat to very deep and rugged canyon country. A normal hunt is three days and two nights but more time can be arranged for individual hunts.

Mule Deer
Hunting will be from vehicles using spot and stalk methods. These big country mule deer will be in the 170+ class B & C which makes them very challenging to hunt. These hunts require enough gun (30 caliber or larger) and a rifleman who is in good shape, possessing the marksmanship to shoot at ranges of over 200 yards. The majority of hunts are in rugged terrain where whitetail and mule deer bed, graze and travel through the same territory. A combination hunt for both species can be arranged.

Pronghorn Antelope
Hunting will be from vehicles using spot and stalk methods for these prairie speedsters. Good optics are a must as hunters will be glassing over flat to rolling hill terrain to decide on the best animal before beginning their stalk. A flat shooting rifle capable of being fired from the prone position at ranges sometimes exceeding 300 yards will be necessary.

Elk
Hunts will be held in the flat country around Campo, Colorado and are very similar to a walk-up pheasant hunt. Elk feed in the milo patches during primitive weapon season making it the optimal time and place to hunt. Good optics are required to glass these fields for just the right bull to stalk.

Wild Boar
Wild boar hunting is an exciting and very popular hunt. These animals are hunted at night with the aid of lights. Wild boars are actually feral hogs but some carry Russian genetics and are considered the “grizzly of the plains.” Hunters in Texas are able to hunt boars without license requirements and any time during the year.

Wild Turkey
Hunt in the springtime for Rio Grande or Merriam’s turkey. These birds rarely hear a manmade call so they are curious when they hear a well produced hen imitation. A hunter will normally bag a bird on the first day but additional birds are possible in areas with a four bird limit. Turkeys can also be hunted in the fall in combination with deer hunts.
