Hunting Guide and Bronze Sculptor

Don Stuckey was born in Ellis County, Oklahoma and now resides in Roaring Springs, Texas with his wife of 37 years, Billie. Don has first hand knowledge of the life of a cowhand because of his 45 years as a working cowboy. He has also enjoyed the outdoors and guided both big and small game hunts providing him a vast array of knowledge about wildlife native to the Comancheria region.

Don has no formal art training, only God given talent and ability to replicate the details in what he sees or has experienced. Don’s work shows extreme detail to authenticity and the detailed anatomy of the subject he portrays.

“Real cowboys and outdoorsmen are not the guts and glory but flies and dirt, hot and cold, aches and pains, hard work and long hours for little pay and no gain, said Don. “They are respectful of women, adored by children and envied by men.”

Drawing from a combination of an American Indian and western background, Don is a self proclaimed historian and natural born storyteller. His art portrays the life and customs of the original American Indian and cowboy. He is well known for his realistic depiction of wildlife and nature.
